Chemo Week 4!

11/19/25

Phew! We’re still here guys- we’re alive haha!

We apologize for the delayed blog post- the last few days post chemo have been rougher than we were expecting but we’re making our way through!

This past week before chemotherapy was pretty much the same as prior weeks with just a tad more fussiness from Mr. Zeke- we’re assuming the chemo is starting to accumulate in his system and his little body is just trying to figure it out.

This Wednesday’s chemotherapy session was the hardest one we’ve had yet, but we’ve officially started day one of what we’re praying will be his last cycle! After his MRI/CT scan in a few weeks we’ll know if he’s good to go for surgery or if he needs some more cycles of chemotherapy.

The day started as any other with an early morning appointment to access Zeke’s port- everything went smoothly and access was easy! Following this was an appointment with Zeke’s nurse practitioner to go over his blood counts which are still all stable!

Then began the premedication and chemotherapy. Since this is his big dose of chemo there were several medications Zeke was given beforehand to help with nausea and protect his heart. All of these medications need to be prepared by the pharmacy, given through an IV pump and then flushed through to make sure he gets the full dose- very time consuming! Chemo days are usually long and Zeke’s nap schedule is almost always cut short and thrown off. This week we were at the hospital for both his naps so not only were they cut short but they were also delayed 🥺

By the time the final chemo was given Zeke was very tired and exceptionally whiny so we were all ready to go home! We finally arrived home but our evening was far from over and far from easy. This weeks’ chemo is excreted through both urine and poo and during the day Zeke obviously had several diapers of each and it was very irritating to his bottom. He pretty much never had a diaper rash in his life and then all of a sudden his poor little bum was very red and sore to the touch. As parents this was so hard for us to watch- we spent a lot of time in a lukewarm bath, diaper free, and lathering on looooots of diaper rash cream. Thankfully by the next morning the pain of the rash had significantly decreased and is continuing to get better daily!

Hopefully next week will be an easier week for our little man. Obviously he continues to be spoiled by everyone around him and we are so appreciative of it. Enjoy some pics from our week below 🥰

See ya next week!
