What started as a great day for Zeke with several visitors stopping by ended as one of the hardest days for mom and dad. That morning we were preparing for Zeke’s port placement later in the day (central line specific for chemotherapy) and we had several friends stop by to help the time pass. This included some of mama’s old coworkers and even his best friend Archie!

Around 3pm Zeke was taken back by the surgery team to have his port placed. Zeke was sedated for the operation under general anesthesia. Because he was still recovering from the rhinovirus, Zeke’s lungs struggled during the procedure. As a safety precaution, we spent that night in the ICU to give him proper time to recover. This was by far the hardest night for us since his diagnosis and it is something that will stick with us forever.
