Today we met with Zeke’s primary Oncologist to discuss the game plan for chemotherapy and surgery.

The purpose of chemotherapy in Zeke’s case is to shrink the tumor enough to where it can be removed along with the unhealthy parts of both kidneys, while still being able to preserve enough healthy tissue for Zeke to have proper kidney function as he grows older.

The current plan is to have 6 weeks of chemotherapy with a CT scan on week 5 to see the effect of the therapy on the tumor size. If there is significant size reduction (as judged by the pediatric surgeon) then we will hope to operate and remove the tumor by the end of week 6. Following this will be more chemotherapy to ensure any small cancer particles are also killed. With this type of cancer, the only way to fully determine the diagnosis and stage of the cancer is after it is removed and biopsied. Therefore, we are fervently praying that this will be Zeke’s case and his treatment won’t have to be extensively long. We ask for your prayers in this as well and if there are any changes we will update as we know.

Monday ended off with a visit from Zekes’ cousins and aunties
